چکیده

This paper presents an extension of propositional dynamic database logic in which the speciication writer can specify arbitrary database transactions declaratively. Since declaratively speciied transactions are under-speciied, the speciication must be supplemented with a frame assumption about what does not change as the result of a transaction. In addition , static database constraints imply preconditions, also called qualiications , that must be satissed for a transaction to occur and static constraints may imply derived updates for a transaction (also called ramiications). We solve these problems by deening preferences over Kripke structures and showing how these can be used to deene an intended semantics that, for each declarative transaction speciication, selects a unique meaning for each transaction. In particular, the intended semantics formalizes a frame assumption and selects qualiications and ramiications for each speciication. The notion of preferential entailment based on the semantics provides a natural way of reasoning about declaratively speciied transactions.

Minimal Semantics for Transaction Speci cations in aMulti - modal

This paper presents an extension of propositional dynamic database logic in which arbitrary database transactions can be speciied declaratively. Typically, declaratively speciied transactions are under-speciied. Speciications are usually supplemented with a frame assumption about what does not change as the result of a transaction, and a qualiication assumption stating that transactions occur, ...

Hierarchical Defaults in Speciications

The goal of this paper is to explain the usage and semantics of hierarchical defaults in logical speciications. We discuss the usefulness of defaults for diierent speciication scenarios like specialization, aggregation, explanation, revision, etc. To understand defaults formally, we introduce a general framework parameterized on the underlying logical institution extended by an instantiation me...

Minimal Semantics for action Speci cations in PDL

In this paper we investigate minimal semantics for Propositional Dynamic Logic formulas. The goal is to be able to write action speciications in a declarative pre/post-condition style. The declarative speciication of actions comes with some well known problems: the frame problem, the qualiication problem and the ram-iication problem. We incorporate the assumptions that are inherent to both the ...

An Operational Semantics and a Compiler for Modechart Speciications

The Modechart speciication language is a formalism for speciication of real-time systems. The original semantics of the language is described in an axiomatic style, with Real-Time Logic being the underlaying logic. We introduce a new formal semantics for it in an operational style in two steps. The semantics for the class of deterministic speciications is introduced rst and then it is extended ...

Preferential Semantics for Action Speci cations in First - orderModal Action

In this paper we investigate preferential semantics for declarative speciications in a First Order Modal Action Logic. We address some well known problems: the frame problem, the qualiication problem and the ramiication problem. We incorporate the assumptions that are inherent to both the frame and qualiication problem into the semantics of the modal Action Logic by deening orderings over Dynam...
